Last Call For Nominations and Tax Deductible Donations for 2019

Last Call for Nominations for:

Robins-Guze Award

The Robins-Guze Award will be given to an early career investigator who has been conducting research, but has not yet been a Principal Investigator on a R01 grant or equivalent and has not yet reached the level of Associate Professor. The deadline to submit nominations for the Robins-Guze award is Friday, December 31, 2019, to the APPA Secretary. Nominations for this award should come from the candidate's mentor and include a CV of the nominee and a brief letter supporting the appropriateness of the candidate for this award, including the number of past APPA meetings attended.

APPA Leadership Positions

The Nominations Committee is continuing to solicit recommendations for three important APPA leadership positions. The APPA Vice President is vital to the association. The newly elected Vice President will fulfill the role of Vice-President in their first year of service, President-Elect in their second year of service, President in their third year of service, and Councilor in the fourth year of service. The APPA Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of APPA. The APPA Councilor-at-Large contributes to the APPA by participating in council meetings and by taking on responsibilities that are vital to the success of the organization, such as overseeing the poster session at the annual meeting and performing outreach to other professional societies related to APPA's mission.

To propose a colleague or yourself, please send a note of interest and CV to Dr. Susan Santangelo, APPA Councilor at [email protected] by December 30, 2019. In 2020, APPA members will elect a new Vice-President (organizer of the 2023 annual meeting), Treasurer (to serve as Councilor-at-Large for 1 transitional year and Treasurer for the subsequent 3 years), and Councilor-at-Large, to serve for 4 years.

Support APPA

APPA continues to increase its responsiveness and accessibility to the needs of its members. In the last year alone, we have introduced a remodeled website, continuing education credits that come free with registration for the annual meeting, a webinar series, and more inclusive criteria to diversify our membership, to name just a few recent upgrades and innovations, while continuing to deliver cutting edge scientific programs. Please consider supporting the American Psychopathological Association through directed contributions. Your generosity ensures the ability of APPA to achieve its mission in service to the field of psychopathology research and supports its broad-ranging activities at our annual meeting, including support for early career investigators.
